PDP Needs Leaders with Vision, Not Just Deep Pockets – Suswam

Prioritizing visionary leadership and genuine candidates over riches and political imposition is crucial for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to restore political strength ahead of the upcoming general elections, according to former Benue State Governor Senator Gabriel Suswam.
Speaking in a Tuesday interview with Arise TV, Suswam criticized the PDP’s present leadership, calling it dishonest and disorganized.
Transparent national leadership, which will now translate into state leadership, is what the PDP most urgently needs. We don’t possess that. “It’s all about lying,” he stated.
Suswam maintained that although the PDP still has a large national following, its power has drastically decreased as a result of subpar internal management and a decline in public trust.
This party is well-organized throughout the nation. That has significantly decreased due to poor leadership,” he continued.
The former governor drew attention to the problem of choosing candidates and cautioned against the tendency for people to base their aspirations for president only on their money.
“Everyone wants to run for president because some people have little change here and there and have little money in their bank accounts.” That’s what’s going on,” he stated.
Instead of depending on influence or endorsements, he advised candidates to evaluate themselves truthfully and look for public support.
“I won’t go if I evaluate myself and determine that I lack the necessary support. However, folks simply don’t want to argue. “Well, that’s because this one wants to contest, so we don’t want that,” they explain. That is not the way party politics is run.”

Suswam also offered some insight into the persistent ambiguity surrounding the PDP National Secretary position. He mockingly said, “Ask the Supreme Court,” in response to the question of who is currently in the position.
He chastised the judiciary for not offering more clarification on the subject.
Since the Supreme Court is the last court in the nation, we anticipated that it would have been extremely knowledgeable. “It’s a problem if there’s confusion and people go to court and you give it back to them,” he remarked.
He claimed that the Supreme Court refrained from rendering a final decision, instead returning the case as an internal party matter, despite the Court of Appeal’s earlier declaration that Senator Samuel Anyanwu was the legitimate Secretary.
We had anticipated a more definitive ruling from the Supreme Court than they did. There’s greater misunderstanding because they weren’t,” he stated.
In conclusion, Suswam stated that the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) would ultimately decide the issue at the next meeting.
