Police Arrest Air Force Personnel, Others Over Torture and Death in Kaduna

In relation to the alleged torture and killing of Joseph Isaac Fada, a filling station employee, the Nigerian Police Force in Kaduna State has detained two members of the Nigerian Air Force and two civilians.
The incident, which took place on April 30, 2025, has caused public outrage due to claims of extrajudicial treatment and power abuse by security officers, according to Zagazola Makama.
Police sources claim that the case started when Amina Abdurrazaq, 40, the manager of the Albash Filling Station on Kaduna’s Airport Road, filed a criminal misappropriation case involving 28-year-old Fada.

After accusing him of embezzling ₦335,522 from gasoline sales, she turned him over to questioning staff at a nearby military checkpoint run by the Nigerian Air Force’s 413 Force Protection Group.
According to sources, Air Force staff allegedly held Fada overnight and tormented him until he passed out. He apparently passed away after receiving treatment at a patent medicine store.
Additionally, Maryam, 51, the proprietor of the pharmacy, was taken into custody.
After the Airport Division transferred the matter to the state police headquarters, Air Force soldiers Sgt. Achibong Friday Udoh and LCPL Ayodele Glory Blessing were arrested, along with the station manager Amina Abdurrazaq and the operator of the medical store.
The deceased’s body has been placed for autopsy, according to the police, and inquiries are still being conducted to ascertain each suspect’s degree of involvement.
