Over a decade of lethal crimes, including murder, cult-related violence, armed robbery, and kidnappings, are thought to have been committed by Akinwande’s numerous armed groups.
According to Hundeyin, “this serial killer suspect is the most wanted person in Lagos history in recent times.” In our ongoing efforts to curb violent crimes that endanger the safety of residents in Mushin and several other parts of Lagos, his capture represents a significant victory.
From Akinwande’s home, the police retrieved a significant cache of weapons and evidence. According to reports, the guy admitted using the products for his illegal activities with his group.
One K2 assault rifle, one Red Ryder rifle, two AK-47 rifles, three pump-action rifles, two locally manufactured single-barrel pistols, five magazines, fifty-seven live cartridges, seventy rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, twenty-seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, one expended 5.56 round, one dagger, three walkie-talkies, and nine international passports belonging to various people were among the items confiscated.
According to the Command, Akinwande’s lengthy history of violent acts had caused his victims and their families great suffering and long-lasting trauma.
“The families impacted by his multiple crimes, all of which are presently being investigated, have experienced trauma, horror, anguish, and pain as a result of his criminal activities,” the statement continued.
The State Criminal probe Department’s Deputy Commissioner has been directed by Commissioner of Police CP Moshood Jimoh to oversee a broader probe into Akinwande’s detention and seek out further individuals connected to his network.
“A group of top detectives and the DCP at SCID have been instructed by the CP to step up their efforts to find all of the suspect’s accomplices and bring them to justice,” Hundeyin stated.
Four families have come forward to name Akinwande as the killing perpetrator of their loved ones thus far.
He is being held under high security by the police at the moment, and they say he will face the harshest possible punishment.
