Police Nab Suspected One-Chance Operators and Fraudsters

Two alleged members of a one-chance robbery gang have been detained by the Oyo State Police Command, which was acting on actionable intelligence. A viral video that revealed the gang’s illegal activities in the Ibadan area preceded this breakthrough.

The Oyo State Police Command’s Commissioner of Police assigned the Command’s Tactical Units to capture the gang after a video went viral revealing their actions. As soon as possible, the teams began a thorough search for the gang members and activated their informant networks.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Adewale Osifeso, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command, their efforts were successful on July 12, 2025, when the Command Monitoring Unit’s intelligence provided the whereabouts of suspected one-chance robbers. That day, at approximately 3:30 pm, the Unit’s officers tracked down and found the suspects on the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road.

The members of the criminal gang listed below were later caught and placed under arrest or custody: Opeyemi Kuburat, a 45-year-old woman from the Beyerunka Area of Ibadan, and Kolawole Moshood, a 42-year-old man from the Olomoyeye Muslim Area of Ibadan.

One Nissan Almera (Registration Number: Lagos FST 779 DL) that the suspects reportedly used in their illegal activities was found during the operation. During questioning, the two admitted to being important players in a one-chance robbery gang that predominates in Ibadan and the surrounding areas. They also acknowledged robbing and using the confiscated car to defraud several victims.

The suspects are being held by the police as they help with the investigation. Three victims have so far come forward and told authorities that they are the ones who stole their items from them on different occasions. To find and capture other gang members and retrieve their weapons, the investigation is still in progress.
