Postecoglou Laments VAR Decisions After Tottenham’s Loss to Chelsea

at Pape Matar Sarr’s goal controversially disallowed during Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, manager Ange Postecoglou vented his fury at the video assistance referee (VAR).
Chelsea won the game by a slim margin of 1-0, but the result was tainted by the disqualification of two crucial goals, one for each team.
Enzo Fernandez’s header gave Chelsea the lead, but Moises Caicedo’s attempt was disallowed shortly after after a VAR review. Levi Colwill, Caicedo’s teammate, was deemed to have been offside during the buildup to the goal, which led to the ruling.

In a strange turn of events, referee Craig Pawson gave the goal in real time after Sarr’s long-range attempt first counted. Players and supporters were left perplexed when the judgment was reversed following a drawn-out review that lasted almost six minutes.
Postecoglou let out his frustration at his press conference after the game, referring to the decision as “crazy” and “madness.” He said, “It’s killing the game, mate,” in reference to the effect of VAR on the fairness of the match. The game has changed from its previous iteration. After giving the goal, the referee took six minutes to rule it out. It’s insane, buddy. It’s insane.
