Premier League: Manchester United Edge Past Everton at Goodison Park

A deeper crisis at Goodison Park was avoided when Premier League powerhouses Manchester United pulled off an incredible late comeback to clinch a thrilling draw at Everton.
David Moyes, who is back as manager, led Everton to a well-earned two-goal lead against Manchester United with excellent control in the first half.
Through a goalmouth scramble in the 19th minute, Beto scored his fifth goal for Moyes as they successfully took advantage of United’s defensive weaknesses. With a well-placed header, Abdoulaye Doucoure doubled their lead.
Harry Maguire had a difficult time reacting as Andre Onana stopped Jack Harrison’s attempt, allowing Doucoure to score, giving Manchester United a difficult moment.
Even though Everton was in control, everything changed when Bruno Fernandes skillfully converted a free kick with eighteen minutes left. Eight minutes later, Manuel Ugarte shocked Everton by equalizing with a strong strike after they had appeared comfortable.
The outcome saved Ruben Amorim, the manager of United, from suffering a tough ninth league loss in 13 games. Tensions increased late in the match when Ashley Young was taken down by a challenge from Maguire, and Everton was given a penalty. But after the video assistant referee reviewed the ruling, it was reversed.

Even though Everton might be frustrated that they didn’t win, their performance shows how much they’ve improved under Moyes. They dominated the majority of the game, but when United started to apply more pressure, they started to show symptoms of exhaustion.
With 30 points from 26 games, Manchester United is now in 15th place in the Premier League standings after the draw, while West Ham United is in 16th place with 27 points from 25 games.
