BREAKING: Court Dismisses Anyanwu’s Plea to Halt PDP Secretary Removal

The Federal High Court in Abuja’s Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo has rejected the request of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from removing him from his position as party secretary.
In order to give the other defendants in his new complaint a chance to voice their opinions, the judge instead directed Anyanwu to contact INEC and invite them to attend in court.
According to what was understood, Anyanwu filed an ex-parte suit with the Federal High Court, asking for a ruling that would forbid INEC or its agents from receiving or acting upon any written submissions or letters from the PDP unless he signed them.
Anyanwu also asked Justice Ekwo to stop Ambassador Umar Illiya Damagun from sending any letters, papers, or written submissions to INEC unless they were signed by him, according to the application that was submitted by his attorney, K.C.O. Njemanze (SAN).
In a succinct decision, Justice Ekwo accepted that Anyanwu’s claims had established a case of urgency after taking the plaintiff’s reasons into account.

But instead of granting the plaintiff’s motion through an ex-parte application, the judge decided to wait for the defendants to speak before making any orders.
In order to provide INEC and Damagun the chance to appear in court and make their case, he instructed Anyanwu to inform them of the new litigation.
Justice Ekwo set the hearing date for February 24 and directed the plaintiff to serve the two defendants with the required court documents.
