Rivers Politics: Olayinka Questions Abati Over Amaechi’s Political Seniority to Wike

On Tuesday, Lere Olayinka, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), criticized former presidential spokesman Reuben Abati for his claim that the Minister is extremely rude.

Abati asserted that Wike displayed a high level of rudeness, emphasizing that in the political realm, Rotimi Amaechi—who was formerly Minister of Transportation—was his superior.

The Arise Television anchor responded to Wike’s comment that Amaechi was power-hungry and failed to secure even 10 percent of the votes for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election.

Abati stated: “Wike exhibits rudeness and a lack of respect, as Amaechi is his political superior. During Amaechi’s second term, he served as the local government chairman with Amaechi’s assistance. Amaechi also became his Chief of Staff and recommended him for the role of Minister of State for Education in Abuja.

In her response, Olayinka expressed curiosity about how Amaechi came to be Wike’s political superior.

Olayinka reminisced on Facebook about how Wike remained in Rivers State to assist Amaechi in recovering his mandate after Amaechi fled to Ghana in 2007.

As per Olayinka: “I heard Egbon @abati1990 on Arise News this morning, stating that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is very rude and disrespectful because Rotimi Amaechi is his political superior.

“If we speak now, they will claim we lack respect for our elders. Reuben Abati, who was at ease sharing a campaign platform as the running mate of a fugitive wanted in the U.S., will now be acting as Moral Police within the Arise TV studio.

“Reuben Abati, a politician with a defined political affiliation, will be embodying objectivity, much like @ruffydfire, a supporter of the Labour Party.

“In what way is Rotimi Amaechi Wike’s political superior?” While Amaechi served as a member of the House of Assembly, Wike held the position of Local Government Chairman.

“In 2007, when Amaechi fled to Ghana, Wike was in Nigeria spearheading efforts to reclaim Amaechi’s mandate. However, I will still not speak.
