Seven Dead in Borno After Clash Between Army, Terrorists

During separate operations in the Rann and Damboa regions of Borno State, Nigerian Army troops participating in Operation Hadin Kai have successfully eliminated seven people thought to be terrorists affiliated with Boko Haram and the Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP).
According to intelligence reports, the first encounter occurred on Wednesday when soldiers from the 3 Battalion, working with Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), confronted terrorists trying to steal food supplies from a disabled vehicle along the Gamboru–Ngala Main Supply Route near Rann, counter insurgency expert Zagazola Makama wrote in a publication on Thursday.
Six attackers were killed when the military reportedly opened fire, and two AK-47 weapons with magazines were recovered. There were four rounds of 7.62mm special ammo in one magazine and six shots in the other.

In a different operation, soldiers from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai ambushed Komala hamlet on the Maiduguri–Damboa road in the Damboa Local Government Area after receiving credible intelligence.
One rebel was killed in this ambush, which targeted terrorists heading towards Sambisa Forest. Several motorcycles and ingredients for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that were allegedly meant for burial were also recovered.
According to military sources, these actions are a part of continuous attempts to clear the area and limit terrorist groups’ ability to move about the operational theater.
