South-East No Longer Left Out Under Tinubu’s Government – Umahi

In an effort to reverse years of government neglect in the region, Minister of Works David Umahi has called on South-East residents to band together in favor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The former governor of Ebonyi State praised President Tinubu for selecting people from the South-East region for important government roles, such as his own as the Chief of Naval Staff, Minister of Science and Technology, and Minister of Works.
“These appointments are important steps toward reintegrating the South-East into national governance,” Umahi said.
“Many Southeast states had no federal projects prior to now,” he remarked. Currently, the government presence is evident across the area. That is the hallmark of genuine national integration.
“This administration is regaining the political ground we once lost. Although we are no longer left behind, it is not yet flawless. We ought to support the President and accept that.
Residents of the zone were also exhorted by Umahi to embrace positive interaction with the Federal Government and shun divisive speech.
“The South-East needs to measure first before measuring twice.” Reintegration is what we need, not seclusion. “We must not squander the opportunity—President Tinubu has initiated this process,” he said.
He claimed that the President’s return to Aso Rock by 2027 would be guaranteed by his achievements in administration and his national integration plan.
Additionally, the Minister criticized the opposition leaders who were calling for a coalition against President Tinubu in 2027, calling them unreliable and anonymous.

A coalition movement to overthrow Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027 has reportedly been discussed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and other politicians.
Former APC National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal are among the other leaders of the coalition.
The Muslim community in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, celebrated Sallah in 2025. Umahi said Tinubu has shown exceptional leadership for Nigerians and is deserving of a second term.
President Tinubu has been commended by the ministry for fostering what he called a “unprecedented level” of national unity and interfaith peace.
He also described as a “unique and historic” conduct that shocked many Christians and marked a new era of religious tolerance the President’s decision to lead a Nigerian team to the Vatican for the Pope’s inauguration.
