Sowore: SDP Is Just Another Arm of Tinubu’s Government

According to Omoyele Sowore, a former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, opposition politicians would not be able to overthrow President Bola Tinubu in 2027 using the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Before winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, Sowore reportedly claimed that President Tinubu controlled the SDP.
He said in a Sunday interview with TVC that any coalition opposing Tinubu via the SDP would fail to accomplish its goal.

He claimed that other opposition leaders might have sent former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the party to learn about its inner workings.
He stated: “I will reveal here that the SDP is also a family of Ahmed Bola Tinubu as far as I know. His ministry includes it as one of its branches. I’m not sure whether he has lost interest in the SDP, but if it was the SDP before to his victory in the APC primaries, it will be difficult for this newcomer to advance very far.

And I want to make another prediction: it might not work out. El-Rufai was sent to SDP as a circus act. And the first lion appears to have mauled El-Rufai when he arrived. The lion who attacked him is unknown to me; it might have been Adebayo or the SDP members who anticipated this.

Because I believe they learned that there is a turtle there who is likely to treat them differently, I have a suspicion that fewer people who were planning to switch to SDP would do so.

However, as I previously stated, I am not affiliated with the party; I am merely sharing my personal perspective on the subject. Given how many characters are bouncing all over the place, I’m not sure how far they can go.

“I firmly believe that the goal of this partnership is not to win an election. I believe it to be a bargaining coalition. These are APC operators, but the alliance is there to divert the attention of Nigerians and give the appearance that there will be resistance to the existing APC government.
