Super Eagles Players to Travel Separately to Kigali for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Players will travel straight from their headquarters to Kigali as the Super Eagles prepare for their pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchup against the Amavubi of Rwanda.
On Friday, March 21, the Amahoro Stadium will host this crucial game. The Super Eagles will begin their training camp in Kigali on Sunday, March 16 in order to be ready for this match.
It should be noted that the Super Eagles proceeded straight to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, for their last away game against the Benin Republic’s Cheetahs.
The team will play the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo four days after the game against Rwanda. With three ties and one loss thus far in the qualifiers, the Super Eagles are currently looking for their first victory.
Due to his role in a betting controversy that is being investigated by Italian authorities, Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye might not be able to play in the forthcoming qualifiers.
If convicted, he might be banned for a long time. Furthermore, Okoye has practically ended his campaign early because Udinese has not enrolled him for the rest of the season.
Given Okoye’s absence, head coach Eric Chelle will have to think about appropriate team replacements. Chelle might wish to call up one of these three talented goalkeepers:
1. Adeleye Adebayo
Adebayo Adeleye, 24, is now a member of the Cypriot First Division team Enosis Neon Paralimniou. He has shown steady form, keeping six clean sheets in recent games.
He is a great prospect to step up in this important situation because of his 1.86-meter height, quickness, and shot-stopping skills. Adeleye has extensive experience in Cyprus and is ready to take on the demands of playing football internationally.
2. Okonkwo, Arthur
Another promising young man is 23-year-old Arthur Okonkwo. Okonkwo, who is currently playing for Wrexham AFC in English League One, developed his skills through the Arsenal development system and acquired useful domestic league experience.

Along with having strong reflexes and fast reaction times, his amazing 1.98-meter stature enables him to successfully command his territory. Okonkwo, who has already won the Austrian Cup, is a great asset to the national team since he has demonstrated that he can perform well under duress.
3. Goodman, Owen
The youngest applicant, 21-year-old Owen Goodman, is on loan from Crystal Palace and plays for AFC Wimbledon in League Two. Goodman, who is 1.93 meters tall, is a dependable shot-stopper with the muscle required for aerial combat. He has demonstrated his consistency and maturity on the field this season with 14 clean sheets. His encouraging performances demonstrate his ability to cover for Nigeria in the World Cup qualifying tournament.
