CNG Appeals to National Assembly for Tax Bill Amendments Benefiting Citizens

For the benefit of Nigerians, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Chiranchi, National Coordinator of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), has called on the National Assembly to examine changes to a tax bill that is presently being reviewed.

During the one-day National Women’s Conference at the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research (Mambayya House) in Kano, Chiranchi made this plea to reporters.

He underlined how important it is for the National Assembly to reassure Nigerians that these suggested changes will be given careful thought.

Chiranchi asserts that the CNG’s main goal is to protect Nigeria’s interests, particularly those of its women and future generations.

He urged lawmakers to conduct themselves professionally and make sure the proposed amendments are compliant with the law. Chiranchi clarified the group’s stance, saying that the CNG wants to correct certain parts of the bill that could negatively impact the country and its people, but is not against the entire bill.

He said the group is still dedicated to pushing for the required changes to make sure the measure serves Nigeria’s interests.

The importance of women in advancing national reform was emphasized by Salisu Nuhu Muhammad, the former general secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in his speech.

“Women are not fragile but have been labeled as vulnerable, though they are indeed the strongest,” Muhammad said, praising the women’s efforts and passion throughout the conference.
