Suspension Stands: Senate Maintains Sanction on Natasha

The Senate has announced that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a Kogi Central lawmaker, will remain suspended until the Senate returns from recess in two months.

Yemi Adaramodu, spokesman for the National Assembly’s red chamber, claimed this on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.

This came just hours after the Senate barred the suspended lawmaker from returning to the National Assembly in Abuja to resume legislative duties.

“The Senate and National Assembly as a whole have roles to play. We are lawmakers, not spectators, witnessing skits and content creation. Initially, the content was developed, and it is now degenerating into seasoned films.

“The Senator is still suspended, and it will remain so till the Senate resumes back from recess in two months,” he informed us.

Senator Natasha was suspended in March 2025 for violating Senate rules during a seat arrangement debate with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual misconduct—an charge Akpabio denied.

The legislator attempted to resume Senate sessions on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, but was denied.
