Ahmed: Nigerians Won’t Stone Tinubu Or APC Leaders

The possibility of Nigerians publicly stoning President Bola Tinubu, APC leaders, and government officials out of annoyance with the status of affairs in their nation has been ruled out by Ismail Ahmed, a former National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He asserts that Nigerians would listen to the leaders and have faith in the process; therefore, there is still hope.
In an interview on Tuesday, Ahmed reportedly made the submission while discussing the Tinubu administration’s performance during its first two years in power.

In response to the anchor’s question about what the APC-led government had done for Nigerians over the last two years, the party stalwart claimed that President Tinubu and the APC had prevented Nigeria from becoming bankrupt.

He claimed that although certain citizens’ expectations have not been fulfilled, the current administration has not destroyed the hope and expectations of Nigerians and that the government still has two more years to fulfill its commitments.

Ahmed defended the increased borrowing by the Tinubu administration by pointing out that the money is being used for national infrastructure improvements and that Nigerians can observe the completion of numerous significant projects.

He asserts that the APC-led Tinubu government has done well in its first two years in power, despite criticism from some sectors regarding problems like widespread hunger, economic hardship, and insecurity, which they blamed on the president’s misguided policies.

Nigerians would listen to us and, I believe, give us the benefit of the doubt. The hope has not yet been dashed.

We have prevented bankruptcy for our nation. Everybody, including corporations, businesses, and most importantly, nations, must operate on debt. Now, debt can be sustainable. It can be used to finance infrastructure improvements, enablement frameworks, or the ability to attract new enterprises to create jobs.

It’s another matter entirely to borrow money, spend it on endlessly pointless things, pay salaries, eat it, and have corruption squander it. We are currently borrowing money to invest in our infrastructure, which was initiated by Buhari, as you are well aware. We completed a large amount of infrastructure that didn’t appear to be complete. Furthermore, I don’t think we are doing too badly when I consider what we are doing worldwide under this administration.

However, he emphasized the importance of keeping the public better informed about government policies, initiatives, and programs so that they can better comprehend what is happening in the nation.

“However, I am aware of perception. The APC chieftain went on to say, “Let me be very clear that I understand the bottom line of people. A lot of people are not happy, which is why I said we need to do more than just sit in rooms and do endorsements that are 100% unnecessary and not required.”
