Odidiomo Declares Unwavering Support for Oyekunle Ahead of Ibadan North Poll

Ahead of the August 16 bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, the lawmaker representing Oyo state’s Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, also known as Odidiomo, has declared complete support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Honourable Folajimi Oyekunle, also known as ‘Don’.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Tolu Mustapha, Olajide, Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, described the PDP candidate as a vibrant and experienced politician capable of providing qualitative representation for the people of Oyo state’s Ibadan North federal constituency.
Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting and handing over campaign materials donated by the two-term PDP lawmaker in support of the by-election, Olajide urged party faithful and constituency residents to rally behind Oyekunle, emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuity of purposeful representation.
He said, “Hon. Don has been tested and trusted. He formerly served the people of Oyo State as a member of the House of Assembly and, more recently, as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Oyo State. He understands governance, is familiar with the geography, and, most importantly, agrees with Governor Seyi Makinde’s goal for accelerated development. “We must all support him.”

According to the release, Olajide emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two neighboring federal constituencies, saying that Oyekunle’s victory will solidify the PDP’s dominance in Ibadanland and increase the state’s representation in the National Assembly.
He stated that the late occupant of the seat, Hon. Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), served diligently until his untimely death and deserves to be succeeded by a candidate who will maintain quality representation.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set August 16, 2025 for the by-election following Hon. Akinremi’s death in July 2024. The seat has remained vacant since then, and political parties are stepping up efforts to win the important constituency.
