“They Can’t Keep Associating With Party Enemies” — Bode George Urges Atiku, Wike to Exit PDP

Olabode George, a founding member and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to step down from the party immediately because of actions that are considered to be harming the party’s unity and reputation.
Speaking in a forceful statement, George voiced his shock at what he called “blatant fraternization” between the two and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the PDP is still being tarnished by their actions.
George questioned why key players like Atiku and Wike would side with the opposition while being PDP members in the wake of the internal turmoil that shook the party.

“What is going on exactly?” he asked. Those who are fed up with the PDP ought to quit and join another party. I’m tired of being embarrassed. I will not stand behind and watch as some openly disparage this party as a founding elder. It’s not feasible.
George said, “General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) remains my boss but he is not a member of our party,” in particular, in reference to Atiku’s recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna. So why is Atiku engaging in political scheming with him? Doesn’t he already have an anti-party offense?

He also cited President Bola Tinubu’s public remarks in which Tinubu allegedly instructed Wike to guarantee an APC win in the elections for the FCT council.

According to George, Wike agreed when President Bola Tinubu told him the other day that the APC needed to win the FCT council election.

He went on to denounce Wike’s reaction, saying, “Wike has been directly ordered to win FCT for APC and he still claims to be a member of PDP.” Are people so politically blatantly unprincipled these days? Our party leadership is nowhere to be seen. Why do they tolerate Wike and Atiku? Why do they let the two continue to publicly humiliate our party?

George cautioned that the situation is becoming more complicated because some governors are now allegedly supporting Tinubu’s possible run for reelection. “They are now being joined by a few governors who support Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. Again, what precisely is happening at our party? Are the dogs no longer disciplined? Has it all fallen apart? Are we currently operating the party in a sane manner?

“Nigerians are yearning for change, which only the PDP can offer because ours is the only organized party,” he said, comparing the APC’s “one-man dominance” with the PDP’s continued status as the country’s only organized and functional political party. Who else in the APC NWC do you know besides Ganduje? The Villa controls the one-man operation known as APC.

The moment has come for the PDP’s national leadership to take bold action in order to salvage our great party, George said.

since an older statesman and a founding member of our party, he went on, “I call on other elders of our party to call Atiku and Wike to order, as the two are not bigger than the PDP.”

George declared he would not keep quiet: “They can’t keep mingling with our party’s adversaries and expect me to remain silent. Regardless of who has their ox gored, the truth must always be said.

The necessity to rid the party of internal saboteurs was emphasized by him: “Now is the time to save our party from those undermining PDP from within.”

“If Atiku is planning how to form a coalition with others because of 2027, he should do that outside the structure of our party,” George said in reference to Atiku’s purported future political aspirations. You cannot be inside this party’s interests and be working against them. We won’t permit that at all.

On Wike, he said: “Wike’s case is very clear to everybody. He wants to be in the good books of Tinubu while working against our party. Even though he is an adult and is aware of what is best for him politically, you cannot claim to be a member of the PDP while working against the party’s interests.

He went on to say: “A lot of people are unaware that Wike’s actions in Rivers, which resulted in the declaration of an emergency rule on March 18, are anti-party.”

“He attacks the PDP while setting up live interviews on television stations as though he were the president. At this point, he should quit our party if he still harbors any shame.

Continuing to work within the party for the president’s reelection is his plan.

“The party is the most powerful entity, so now is the time for our party leadership to exercise their authority.”

George came to the conclusion that the PDP would be stronger when internal dissidents were removed: “As an opposition party, we will be in a formidable position, once we remove the liabilities in our party, to take over power from APC at the federal level in 2027.”

On the status of the country, Bode George
In his critique of the APC’s security and economic policies, he turned to national problems, saying, “Nigerians are suffering greatly as a result of the APC’s anti-people policies, and they are waiting for the PDP to ease their suffering in 2027.”

George voiced serious concerns about insecurity, saying, “The country is overrun by insurgency, corruption, kidnappings, and murders. In his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, what specific actions is Tinubu taking to buck this undesirable trend?

Does the manner in which people are being killed in Plateau and Benue make sense? Former presidents and opinion leaders should speak out against the drifting nation. We can’t go on like this.

“There is what is called round-tripping,” he said, challenging bank CEOs about their role in the nation’s financial crisis and urging them to support public welfare. In addition, there are fraudulent charges, covert charges, and insider abuse. These are all aimed at Nigerians. You can’t see a bank MD in a private aircraft every other day in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, United Arab Emirates, etc.

In this case, our bank MDs own private aircraft in addition to chartering them. From whence do they obtain the funds necessary to sustain this kind of lifestyle and luxury?
