NNPP Chieftain Calls on Political Leaders to Emulate Pope Francis’ Selfless Leadership

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, the South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), asked world leaders, particularly Nigerian political leaders, to follow Pope Francis’ example of selfless service as he joined Christians around the world, especially Catholics, in mourning the Vatican leader’s death.
Political leaders should honor him, he said, not merely with words but also by carrying out their principles through justice, equity, fairness, and a government that loves its citizens.
As a humble servant of God, he said that the Pope’s death at the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection was a holy return to his Creator.
The death of Pope Francis, according to Ajadi, just hours after he spoke at a Vatican Easter Sunday service, should serve as a reminder to everyone that death can strike at any time.

Therefore, he called on world leaders to follow the late Pope’s example of showing mercy to the impoverished, refugees, migrants, and forgotten.
On Monday morning, he said, “I was saddened to hear of His Holiness Pope Francis passing away.”
I offered the Christians and the Catholic Church my deepest sympathies and sorrow.
For the forgotten, the oppressed, and the impoverished, he was in fact the Pope. He was a force for good who exemplified the core teachings of Christ, which are love for God and love for people.
He prayed for peace and security in unstable areas and spoke out against economic inequality, making him a staunch supporter of the developing world.
“In a statement he personally signed on Monday to mourn Pope Francis’s passing, I urged world leaders, and particularly Nigerian political leaders, to honor him not with words alone but with action: by lifting those who are down, healing our communities, and defending the dignity of every person,” Ajadi written.
