Liverpool’s Diogo Jota Dies in Tragic Car Crash Weeks After Wedding

Diogo Jota of Liverpool passed away in a Spanish vehicle accident.

In the car, the 28-year-old was reportedly accompanied by his brother, Andre.

According to reports, the vehicle slid off the road in the province of Zamora while traveling on the A-52.

Just two weeks after Jota’s untimely death, he married his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.

In May, during Arne Slot’s rookie season, the forward was a member of the Liverpool team that won the Premier League cup.

Investigators are looking into what caused the event, according to police. None of the other vehicles were involved, they said.

Since moving from Wolves to Liverpool in 2020, Jota has made 182 appearances.

In May, he won the Premier League title after winning two Carabao Cups and the FA Cup during his five years at the club.

Additionally, Jota has 49 caps for Portugal, winning the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and scoring 14 goals last month.
