The statement added that after a brief illness, she passed away quietly in Abuja on Wednesday.

Owie remarked, “When Helen entered my life more than fifty years ago, she lovingly made our home a safe space,” in reference to their union, which lasted for more than fifty years. She brought my family together and showed the utmost respect and compassion to my late mother, Aghatise Owie, who gave birth to 11 children for my father, of whom I am the only one still alive.

“She held us all together with her faith, grace, and strength, and she showed my family and friends unwavering love.”

“Helen was a true devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary,” Owie said, describing her as a devout wife and mother, a resourceful manager, and a woman who feared God. Her life served as an example of kindness, humility, and unwavering service. She was my partner in everything, my rock, and my tranquility. Our family life was built on her quiet strength and unwavering faith.
