PDP Crisis: Saraki Slams Tinubu For Ridiculing Opposition During Democracy Day Address

In response to President Bola Tinubu’s remarks about the continuous unrest within the opposition parties, former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has offered his thoughts.
Ahead of the general elections in 2027, a number of prominent individuals were reported to have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including state governors from the opposition parties of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).
President Tinubu criticized the opposition parties in his speech on Thursday in honor of June 12 Democracy Day, saying he was pleased to see them “in disarray.”
I won’t tell you to do your best to organize your home. Nor will I assist you in doing so,” the Nigerian leader declared.
The idea that his administration is implementing a one-party system by luring opposition lawmakers to join the ruling All Progressives Congress has also been refuted by President Tinubu.

In reaction to Tinubu’s remarks, Saraki admitted that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is presently experiencing a crisis as he answered questions from reporters after the Democracy Day event at the National Assembly.
He urged opposition groups, including party members, to properly organize.
“I think we must take him at his word,” Saraki stated. He did a good job of expressing his opposition to a one-party system. Therefore, we have to believe him when he says that he is in favor of a multi-party system. Thus, we are all in agreement.
We are going around trying to get everyone to come around because of this. Therefore, there is no longer any pressure on those who claim to be under it. Since he stated that he would not assist us, we will organize our own house once more. We are all in favor of multi-party and everyone should organize their homes.
