Killings: Apostle Suleman Urges Benue People to Defend Themselves

Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has urged the federal government to officially acknowledge the country’s security architecture failure and allow Nigerians to defend themselves against relentless attacks, particularly in Benue State.
Suleman posted on his 𝕏 (previously Twitter) account on Sunday that the government’s incapacity to safeguard lives and property has forced residents to turn to self-defense, which is a constitutional right.
“If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” Suleman wrote in response to Friday’s massacre in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, where over 200 people were reportedly killed in yet another brutal herdsmen attack.

“Defend yourselves, Benue people. He described the current situation in Benue State as terrible, savage, and chaotic.
He further stated that on his past visits to Jos and Benue, he had urged Nigerians to be cautious and prepared to safeguard their villages.

The preacher went on to say, “Self-defense is guaranteed by the Constitution. I mentioned it when I went to Jos and Benue. “We can’t keep watching this.”

The furious preacher also slammed politicians who are already planning for the 2027 general elections while failing to confront the current surge of insecurity in the country.

“It’s ridiculous that people are thinking about 2027 when mayhem is being unleashed on the citizens they are supposed to govern in 2025.” “What happened to your humanity?” he questioned.
