Governor Fubara and his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, were said to have attended the service at Salvation Ministries.

Days before to this presentation, President Bola Tinubu announced a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday, citing rising political unrest and security threats.
The declaration suspended Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and every member of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Ibok-Ete Ibas was designated as the Sole Administrator to manage the state’s affairs for a six-month first term.

Legal professionals, civil society organizations, and political stakeholders have all had differing opinions about the ruling. However, Ibok-Ete Ibas, the recently appointed Sole Administrator, has jumped right into his responsibilities, holding emergency security meetings with heads of local government administration, law enforcement, and traditional authority. Additionally, he ordered that payments for local government employees be processed immediately and confirmed that the withheld amounts had been released.

Ibas also examined the State House of Assembly Complex’s ongoing redevelopment and pledged to see to it that it is finished on schedule in order to preserve political stability.

Following his suspension by Tinubu, there were rumors that Governor Fubara had moved to Bayelsa State.
