Sanwo-Olu Commits to Supporting JAMB’s Exam Center Expansion in Lagos

On Tuesday, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, promised his administration’s backing for working with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to increase the number of exam centers that can accommodate students taking computer-based graduation exams.
In a courtesy call to the Lagos House in Alausa, he made this statement while addressing the Board’s top management team, which was chaired by its Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede. He emphasized that the intervention would improve the performance of admissions applicants in Lagos.
After the Board encountered a shortage of test centers, the governor addressed the issue in an effort to ensure a flawless test.
Although the Board typically had trouble administering the test to applicants in the state, it was discovered that applicants from Lagos make up 15% of all applicants who sit for matriculation exams each year.
With applicants in the impacted communities taking matriculation exams for ten days longer than the normal allotted time, the Board revealed that the mainland of Lagos was the most affected.
According to Sanwo-Olu, Prof. Oloyede is a “outstanding Nigerian” who serves with unusual zeal and honesty. The state government is eager to assist the Board in expanding the testing centers’ capacity.
Since we now know that JAMB in Lagos is suffering from subpar testing facilities, the least we can do is work with the Board to increase the current capacity for our own advantage. After reviewing the requests, we would give the Board large property parcels in Ojo and Ikorodu.

“This intervention will primarily benefit our indigenous people, who will take the matriculation examinations in settings that will improve their performance and support their abilities.
As a subnational government, Sanwo-Olu declared, “We are prepared to continue the conversation with the Board; we will search for land in designated locations to construct testing facilities.”
In addition to thanking Governor Sanwo-Olu for accepting the Board’s recommendations and committing to cooperation, Prof. Oloyede stated that the new testing facilities, if authorized, will also be used by respectable government agencies in Lagos to administer hiring exams to their staff.
