FAAC Reschedules February Meeting

The February 2025 meetings of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) have been announced to be indefinitely postponed.
In a statement released on Thursday, FAAC Secretary Ali Mohammed announced this announcement.
The notification expressed its deepest sympathies to the honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and it expressed regret for any trouble the postponement may have caused.
In a letter to FAAC members, Mohammed said, “In accordance with our previous notice referenced F.12090/T/68 dated February 14, 2025 on the above subject, I am directed to inform you that the Federation Account Allocation Committee meetings for the month of February 2025 have been postponed.”
According to the statement, “Given the above, I am to further inform you that a new date for the meeting will be communicated to you later, while the previous communiqué that was issued will be reviewed accordingly.”
In the meantime, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met on Wednesday at Tinubu’s official home in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

It was reported that on Wednesday night, Akpabio’s motorcade was parked outside the building. Other cars were also observed pulling into the Villa, but the people inside could not be identified because journalists were not allowed entry.
The Senate called intelligence officials to look into claims made by U.S. Congressman Perry Scott that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) had been funding terrorist groups, including Boko Haram, just hours before the meeting.
The Senate resolution came after Senator Mohammed Ndume (Borno South Senatorial District) moved an Order of Urgent National Security under Order 41.
If proven guilty of funding terrorism, Nigeria would not permit USAID to continue its operations in the nation, Akpabio said during Wednesday’s plenary session.
