Court Bars Enemona Anyebe from Claiming Kogi PDP Chairmanship

Kogi State’s opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship has been denied to Enemona Anyebe by a Kogi State High Court.
In the case number HC/Okp/8/2024, which John Ojodale filed against the PDP and another party, Justice Yahaya Adamu of the State High Court in Lokoja was said to have rendered a decision on Tuesday.
The judge ruled that Enemona Anyebe was not entitled to run for the chairperson and ordered a new election to be held within 45 days.
According to Justice Adamu’s ruling, Anyebe was not present at the PDP Congress on August 31, 2024, since he was allegedly suspended from the party.
The first runner-up in the August 31, 2024, PDP Congress in Kogi State, Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo, responded to the court’s ruling by claiming to be the party’s genuine chairman.
Gambo argued that he should be the main benefactor of the decision because it established that Enemona Anyebe shouldn’t have been a candidate, rather than nullifying the election.
However, he argued that the request for a new election was not included in the initial summons and was therefore in contempt, and he rejected the court’s order for a new election to be held within 45 days.
The Federal High Court has heard our case. He declared, “We will appeal the part of the decision where the judge mandated a new election within forty-five days.
“This wasn’t included in the plaintiff’s original summons, and we weren’t even involved in the lawsuit that was filed in the State High Court.”

Gambo went on to say that he wasn’t named chairman in part because he wasn’t involved in the legal action. He revealed that in order to get his election victory recognized as valid, he has petitioned the Federal High Court in Lokoja.
He assured his supporters and the state’s PDP members to remain calm, saying the Federal High Court would take the required steps to recognize him as the duly elected state PDP chairman.
