How VP Shettima Persuaded Bishop Kukah to Accept Tinubu’s Appointment – FG

Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, was persuaded to take the position of Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council at the recently founded Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State, by the Federal Government.
According to reports, the information was disclosed by Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa at the Abuja principal officers’ and university’s governing council inauguration.
He clarified that Bishop Kukah was nominated and convinced to accept the position by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Dr. Alausa described the Vice President’s involvement at the Ministry’s conference hall, saying, “Bishop Kukah is very busy.” The vice president was quite concerned that I would cause him a great deal of stress when he was proposing Bishop Kukah. Bishop Kukah has a great deal of regard for him, according to the vice president.

“I’m giving the Vice President’s words now,” he added, quoting the vice president. He respects me a great deal. He has always complied with my requests for assistance. I would want to request that he assume the role of Pro Chancellor. Although I am aware that he is already overburdened, I will ask him out of self-interest, for the benefit of the nation, and in service of it. And I’m certain he won’t refuse.
When Vice President Shettima contacted Bishop Kukah, the religious leader said, “Yes, I will do it,” and accepted the role, according to Dr. Alausa.
The Minister conveyed his appreciation to Bishop Kukah for taking on the position in spite of his numerous duties, characterizing his choice as an indication of his devotion to community service and education.
Several notable people attended the occasion, including Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas, the university’s vice chancellor, and General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff. General Musa, a native of Southern Kaduna’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, promised that the Nigerian military will provide strong security for the university, guaranteeing a secure atmosphere for both employees and students.
