Panic as Explosion Hits Ikeja Under Bridge

On Friday night, an explosion shook a building and the surrounding region, causing panic in the Ikeja Under Bridge area.
According to witnesses, the explosion, which happened about 6:30 p.m., was caused by a solar inverter that detonated without warning.
“An inverter blew up, causing the explosion. Already on the scene is the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service. People were spotted running in fear due to the area’s heavy traffic, Rabiu Abass told Vanguard.

The public was reassured that the firefighters were present and that the situation was under control by Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, who confirmed the occurrence. “There’s nothing to worry about. She said, “The situation is under control.”

Fire and rescue personnel were still on the ground at 8:30 p.m., attempting to put out the fire that had damaged a nearby structure.

At least 12 stores were reportedly damaged on Thursday night by a fire in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to witnesses who spoke to reporters about the incident on Friday, the fire started at 10:55 p.m. in Block A, No. 64, Mayegun Cement Store Market in Araromi, Agodi-Gate, and lasted for more than three hours until being extinguished.

It was discovered that the fire had cost several million naira in damages.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that the incident was caused by an electrical surge close to combustible materials.

The state fire service received the emergency call at exactly 11:02 PM, according to Yemi Akinyinka, general manager, who confirmed the event to The PUNCH in Ibadan on Friday.
