Plateau Government Denies Weapon Seizure by DSS, Rejects Sabotage Claims

Reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) purposefully hampered efforts to respond to recent gunman attacks on villages have been denied by the Plateau State Government.
Samuel Jatau, the secretary to the state government, called the accusations “misleading, erroneous, and aimed at causing disaffection and acrimony” between the state and the DSS in a statement released on Tuesday.
Social media accusations that the DSS confiscated guns intended for the Plateau Neighbourhood Watch organization, Operation Rainbow, in order to impede its response to the violence were denied by the statement posted on the Plateau State Government’s Facebook page.
The Department of State Services allegedly confiscated guns purchased for the Plateau state neighborhood watch organization, Operation Rainbow, according to false reports that were tracked on Facebook and other social media accounts, Jatau stated.
Additionally, the study implied that the seizure was purposefully carried out to delay the agency’s reaction to the recent violent attacks on certain communities inside the state. We want to make it quite clear that this is not at all the case.

“The Department of State Services has never, even inadvertently, halted or taken any action to undermine government initiatives to combat insecurity in Plateau State.
He explained that the DSS has been especially useful in attempting to save lives and bring peace back to the Plateau.
“On the contrary, the Department has been a very trustworthy partner and has supported the state in reducing insecurity in a number of ways.”
Therefore, it is recommended that the public disregard those reports since they are inaccurate, deceptive, and intended to sow discord and disenchantment between the state government and the Department of State Services.
