Troops Nab 55-Year-Old Suspected Kidnap Kingpin in Kano

During a security operation in Sumana village, Tundun Wada Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State, troops from the Joint Task Force, Tundun Wada, have detained a 55-year-old suspected renowned kidnapper.

The Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade, Kano, Capt. Babatunde Zubairu, revealed this to reporters in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement claims that on April 20, the suspect was captured.

The suspect was paraded in front of Brig.-Gen. Ahmed Tukur, the Brigade Commander, who came to visit troops at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Falgore in Doguwa LGA to join them in celebrating Easter, the statement continued.

It stated that the commander gave the troops high marks for professionalism and bravery.

The mission retrieved a cache of weapons, ammo, and other vital supplies. One fake AK-47 rifle, one Den gun, nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, and one woodland camouflage clothing are among the items on the list.

One desert camouflage vest, one forest camouflage vest, and a Bajaj motorbike seat that may have been used to conceal firearms were also found.

The Nigerian Army and other security forces are committed to collaborating with local authorities to bring peace back to communities, Brig.-Gen. Tukur said, praising the troops’ efforts.

The army’s commitment to protecting people and property is unwavering. “We will continue to work tirelessly to hold criminals accountable,” the statement said.

Additionally, it stated that the suspect is presently being held and is the subject of an initial inquiry.
