Bauchi Governor’s Son: My Father Won’t Support Atiku

Shamsudeen, the son of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has declared that his father will not back former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s bid for president.
He responded in a message posted on his X account (formerly Twitter), @shamsudeen_bala, to a person who voiced hope that Atiku and Governor Mohammed may work together to revitalize the PDP.
According to Shamsudeen, Atiku had already harmed his father’s 2023 reelection bid by supporting the opposition and mobilizing influential people in Bauchi against him.
It would be hard, to be honest,” he wrote.
“Because he would only settle old scores for us, even if he were to win.” He endorsed the APC candidate and employed Bauchi elites to attack us in 2023 instead of standing with us. We just about made it through it. He has made it apparent that he doesn’t respect us enough to have a conversation with us.
Prior to the upcoming election cycle, his remarks draw attention to persistent divisions within the PDP.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has visited the residence of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna State under the leadership of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the party’s national chairman.
This visit reportedly comes after opposition leaders recently met with the former president.

Remember that Buhari had previously met with important politicians including El-Rufa’i at his home in Kaduna State, as well as former Vice President and PDP presidential contender Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
According to political observers, the opposition’s visit is a part of their plan to run a united front against the current government in the general elections scheduled for 2027.
Notably, Buhari had invited APC-affiliated governors for talks two days before the opposition leaders’ arrival.
Earlier last month, the former president reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
