Pope Francis’ Body to Be Moved to St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday — Vatican

On Tuesday, the Vatican announced that Pope Francis’s remains would be transported to St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. (0700 GMT).
The Vatican announced in a statement that the pope’s remains are now resting in a coffin in the chapel of the Santa Marta residence, where he resided for the duration of his 12-year pontificate.
Following pneumonia and a stroke, the pope passed away from a stroke on Monday at the age of 88, according to the Vatican.

The cleric was hospitalized for five weeks earlier this year for double pneumonia, according to the Vatican, which also claims that he suffered a stroke, went into a coma, and eventually suffered from “irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.”
Cardinals will get together on Tuesday to organize his funeral, which will be attended by world leaders in advance of a conclave to choose a new head of the Roman Catholic Church next month.
