IBB: ‘The Man They Silently Envied’ – Abacha’s Children Speak Out

In response to General Ibrahim Babamosi Babangida’s (IBB) revelations, the children of the late Military Head of State, General Sani Abacha, have come to his support.
In his book, “A Journey In Service,” General Babangida reportedly claimed that the late General Abacha had canceled the June 12, 1993, presidential election without his consent.

In the midst of controversy surrounding the book’s Thursday release, Abacha’s children, Sadiq Sani Abacha and Gumsu Sani Abacha, have taken to social media to honor the late General.

Sadiq, his son, said his father was a man his detractors secretly admired. History will remember the late head of state as a greater leader, he continued.

“Abacha, you have always been the one they secretly coveted.” No matter how much they attempt to discredit you, history will remember you as a greater leader. I am most proud of you today as a son. He wrote, “Yes, you are the man they wish they were half of.”

“Duk wanda yayi jifa a kasuwa,” which translates to “whoever throws a stone in the market,” was the Hausa proverb he used to end.

Gumsu, her daughter, consistently reposted tweets on 𝕏 that supported her father’s interests.

Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, expressed concern in one of these tweets that the late general was unable to defend himself against the accusations made by IBB because he was no longer alive.

Senator Sani wrote, “Unfortunately, Abacha is not alive to state his own side of the story.”
