2027: APC Has No Other Presidential Option – Senator Kalu

Before the 2027 elections, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Chief Whip of the Senate, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, had no other presidential candidate.
Speaking to the Senate Press Corps on Tuesday, Kalu emphasized that some former presidents who did not do well returned for a second term, and he based his optimism on his perception that President Bola Tinubu was doing well in his role as head of state.
Although he acknowledged that the economic reforms have put strain on Nigerians, he urged them to exercise patient as they were designed to create a strong economy.
“We are urging the Nigerian people to exercise patience with the reform process,” Kalu stated. We are completely in line with democratic ideals and are backing the current president; we are not searching for another presidential candidate from outside our party.
Although they are challenging, reforms are essential. We are currently working to rebuild the economy after it was torn apart.
Although it is a difficult process, patience is necessary. Economic troubles are not limited to Nigeria; they are also present in London, Canada, and other countries of the world.
A ranking senator and the former governor of Abia State stated that the Tinubu-led administration was consulting before making decisions on certain strategic matters that would benefit the country.
“Now, before making important economic decisions, the President consults more widely, both domestically and abroad.”
Speaking about the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which has made headlines again since the memoir of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, the former military head of state, was released, Kalu stated that he is eager for a second edition because he believes the first edition lacked all the facts.

Since the first version of Babangida’s book did not fully disclose the facts, I eagerly await the second edition.
“I witnessed the events of June 12 and am aware of what transpired.” Babangida ought to identify the people who are obstructing the announcement of the election.
The aforementioned coup was carried out by the Nigerian military and was not an Igbo coup. There is no question that Moshood Abiola won that election.
“Moshood Abiola ought to be sworn into office posthumously,” he stated.
Since Abiola prevailed, his image ought to be positioned alongside those of Nigeria’s previous presidents. I applaud former President Buhari for bestowing upon him a national award posthumously.
Additionally, I would urge President Tinubu to formally acknowledge him and put his image in its proper context. His family would be able to find closure thanks to this.
