Ekweremadu’s Wife Freed from UK Prison, Returns to Nigeria

Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of Ike Ekweremadu, the former deputy Senate President of Nigeria, has been released from prison in the United Kingdom.
On Wednesday, a former adviser to Mr. Ekweremadu verified the news.
A UK court found Mr. Ekweremadu, his wife, and a physician guilty of organ trafficking in March 2023.
Following a six-week trial at the Old Bailey, they were convicted of enabling a young man to enter Britain with the intention of exploiting him.
Mr. Ekweremadu received a sentence of nine years and eight months in prison, while his wife received a sentence of four years and six months.
“Yes. She is currently free. She’s in Nigeria right now,” the ex-aide, who wished to remain anonymous, stated.

Beatrice has not yet served out her four-year, six-month jail sentence, according to the UK court’s ruling.
As of right moment, it is unknown if the European nation pardoned her.
“I am not aware of that information. She’s out, though, which means she’s finally gone. According to the former aide, she will not return to the UK.
