Explosion Shakes Computer Village in Lagos, Police Respond

The Nigeria Police Force’s Lagos State command has said that it is looking into the explosion that occurred at an Ikeja store that sold closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
In a statement released on Saturday in Lagos, the command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, gave this information, stating that the explosion happened on Friday at 6:35 p.m. on Kodesho Street, which is situated in the Computer Village neighborhood of Ikeja.
The statement claims that in the immediate aftermath of the incident, members of the Conventional Police Teams, Mobile Police Detachment, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit cordoned off and secured the explosion site and its environs.
It was understood that in order to protect the safety of the local population and to provide a thorough investigation to determine the source of the explosion, EOD professionals also carried out a comprehensive sweep of the area.
The statement added that CP Olohundare Jimoh, the state’s commissioner of police, arrived to the spot soon after the occurrence to conduct an instant evaluation.

“The CP encourages Lagos residents to maintain composure and not to panic while investigations are underway to ascertain the precise cause of the explosion and other factors that might have caused the incident.”
Because the explosion site and the surrounding region are now safe and secure, Hundeyin stated, “the public is enjoined to go about their lawful engagements and businesses peacefully without fear or apprehension.”
According to him, five people who were injured in various ways inside and outside the store have been rescued and sent to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for treatment.
The leadership is committed to maintaining peace and security throughout the state, the spokesperson underlined.
