Tension in PDP: Wike’s Men Resist Tinubu’s Instruction to Reopen HQ

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national headquarters remains locked more than twenty-four hours after President Bola Tinubu ordered Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) authorities to unlock assets seized for non-payment of ground rent.
A mass sealing of homes by the FCTA on Monday reportedly caused a stir before Tinubu stepped in and ordered the defaulting houses to be unsealed.
In order to avoid penalties of ₦2 million, the president advised the defaulters to regularize all of their land titles prior to the 14-day grace period for ground rent payments.

A seal of the FCTA was posted next to the padlocked entrance of the PDP headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, at around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, according to reports.
It was alleged that some party employees were seen sitting outside the main entrance, while others were observed wandering about, complaining about the situation.
Speaking about the development, a staff member who wished to remain anonymous expressed his suspicion that there is a hidden directive not to open PDP.
“I was present yesterday when the FCTA employees arrived,” the person stated. They visited FIRS, the Ibro Hotel, and NAPTIP and opened them all. As soon as they arrived at our office, they departed in their car.
“The Lands director I met with after following them to their office stated that they are still awaiting AGIS’s directive to unseal PDP.”
As of the publishing of this story, the PDP had not yet responded to the most recent development in an official manner.
