Three Suspects Nabbed in AAUA Staff Kidnapping Ransom Sharing Case

In relation to the abduction of a staff member at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, police have revealed that three people have been taken into custody.
Within twenty-four hours of the kidnapee’s release following payment of an undisclosed amount to the gunmen, the suspects were taken into custody.
The kidnappers called the family, relatives, and acquaintances of Omoniyi Eleyinmi, the Faculty Officer in the varsity’s Faculty of Education, and demanded a ransom of N100 million.
The gunmen, however, consented to take N7 million after much pleading and haggling, but only after giving the family a day to make the payment.

Eleyinmi, however, was rescued on Sunday after his family paid the gunmen an undisclosed amount to free him.
The defendants were apprehended when they were exchanging the ransom, according to sources.
“I can confirm to you that our operatives arrested three suspected kidnappers in connection with the kidnapping of two AAUA lecturers,” Ondo State Police Command Spokesman Olayinka Ayanlade, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said in reference to the incident.
The suspects are being questioned and profiled at the moment.
In the meantime, CP Adebowale Lawal, the Commissioner of Police for the Ondo State Police Command, has ordered that the suspects and all recovered exhibits be turned over to the Anti-kidnapping Squad for a discreet and in-depth investigation.
