PDP NWC Convenes Emergency Meeting in Abuja Amid Defection Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has called an emergency meeting of its National Working Committee at its national secretariat in Abuja.

In the wake of the PDP’s persistent internal problems and a wave of defections that have swept through the opposition party’s ranks and strongholds, the meeting is now taking place behind closed doors on Tuesday.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former PDP vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa were said to have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, last week.
