‘Tinubu Acts Like Tyrant Only When Denied, Says Presidential Aide in Response to Pat Utomi

Temitope Ajayi, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, has blasted Pat Utomi, a former presidential contender, for his remarks regarding President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The Department of State Services (DSS) had sued Utomi, claiming that he had attempted to establish a shadow government in order to unlawfully steal President Bola Tinubu’s executive authority.
In a post on Friday, May 16, 2025, through his 𝕏 handle, Ajayi remembered how Utomi sought funds and Tinubu’s support in order to run for governor of Delta State as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

According to the presidential adviser, Tinubu only turns into a despot when his followers are unable to achieve their goals.
Before every election, he wrote, “Every four years, @UtomiPat will create a massive coalition and grand illusion that always turns out to be a mirage.” The newest project is called Big Tent Shadow Government. The same individual who had been disparaging President Tinubu now sought his support and financial assistance in order to run for Delta State governor as an APC candidate. Only when they can’t obtain what they want from Tinubu does he turn into a tyrant.

Political commentator Laolu Akande, meantime, has pleaded with the DSS to ignore Pat Utomi and concentrate on the country’s more urgent problems.

In a Friday interview with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Akande made this statement in response to the security agency’s legal action against Utomi.

However, Akande downplayed concerns about the shadow government, saying it was a harmless political statement and not a national security danger.

“I would suggest that the DSS employees not overburden themselves. The DSS should be focused on more pressing issues. Come on, let’s do it. “Just give Utomi some space; he’s just enjoying himself,” he remarked.
