Tinubu’s Minister Claims Kwankwaso Is Inactive in Kano, Seeking APC Comeback

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s political significance in Kano State politics has been disregarded by Yusuf Ata, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.
Ata claims that Kwankwaso is attempting to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to stay relevant because he is no longer a desirable politician.
According to reports, the Minister made this statement on Tuesday in Abuja during a courtesy call at the national secretariat of the APC, when he met with Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman.

He went on to say that the red caps, which stand for Kwankwaso’s “Kwankwasiyya” movement, had all abandoned him and that his power in Kano has drastically diminished.

In Kano, Kwankwaso is no longer active. His primary goal in joining the APC is to survive. Even Mr. President has his records at the grassroots level. Ata declared, “He is no longer appealing or a substitute.

He cautioned that the return of the former governor might cause an internal conflict within the APC and noted that the party does not require Kwankwaso’s influence to win the 2027 election for President Bola Tinubu in Kano.

Ata stated that he personally would not welcome the former governor back into the APC unless instructed to do so by Ganduje in response to rumors that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will follow Kwankwaso wherever he goes politically.

When Kwankwaso was governor in 1999, I was a member of the House of Assembly. I am familiar with him. We have no agreement unless our father [Ganduje] agrees to make room for him,” he stated.

Ganduje was more tactful in his remarks during the visit, stating that Kwankwaso would be accepted if he chose to join the APC.

However, he concurred with Ata that Tinubu may win Kano in 2027 without Kwankwaso’s help.

Kwankwaso was referred to by the APC chairman as “a stranded politician.”

That’s precisely what happens when a fish runs out of water. The fish must make its way into the water if it is drying out. So that’s what’s going on.

“I won’t say that we’re not prepared to have him here. As a big brother in a large household, I believe it is morally correct to provide accommodations for your son when he runs to where he would find refuge. According to Ganduje, “a friend in need is a friend indeed.”
