Tragedy in Lagos: Three Dead as LASEMA Responds to Building Collapse

Three bodies have been found by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, or LASEMA, in a two-story structure that fell on Tuesday in the state’s Ikorodu neighborhood.
The deceased were apparently working on the bottom floor with a group of construction workers when the building fell on Tuesday afternoon, according to emergency officials. They were recognized as a teenage girl and two adult males.
The first body was found soon after the tragedy, according to LASEMA, and the other two victims were retrieved from the wreckage following a protracted search that lasted into the wee hours of Wednesday.

Residents and onlookers were alerted to the situation when witnesses said the structure fell with a loud noise at 2:00 p.m.
The remains have been turned over to police from the Igbogbo Police Division to assist with continuing investigations into the cause of the structural breakdown, according to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, who verified the development.
