Tragic: Nigerian Police Officer Takes Own Life with Gunshot

According to reports, Inspector Ajele Oloyede, a police officer of the Ogun State Police Command, committed suicide.
According to reports, the event happened at Goodwill Ceramic Company in Igbesa, in the state’s Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, when the employee was on special duty.
In a statement, Omolola Odutola, the command spokeswoman, acknowledged the development and said that an investigation has been opened into the untimely death of Inspector Oloyede, who was assigned to 78 PMF, Zamfara State.
Around 13:20 on March 14, 2025, the incident took place. Tolorunloju Stephen, an officer assigned to Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, who was also on special duty at the company, reportedly said he had just arrived from Ikeja when he went into the security office and discovered Inspector Oloyede with his head resting on a table. Oloyede gave him a nice response after they had exchanged pleasantries and briefly asked how he was feeling.
Stephen went to the bathroom shortly after, but he heard a gunshot a short while after. Inspector Oloyede was laying in a pool of blood when he hurried back.
The wounded officer was taken right away to Ota General Hospital with the help of private security guards, and the attending physician pronounced him dead.
“The body has been taken to the hospital for an autopsy, and the firearm used in the incident has been recovered,” she stated.

The state commissioner of police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the regrettable tragedy, including the potential for foul play or mental health issues, according to the police spokeswoman.
