In cooperation with Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade/Sector 3 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have disposed of two bandits and retrieved 1,000 stolen livestock from Taraba State.
Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Captain Oni Olubodunde said in a statement Friday that the action was carried out in response to a reliable intelligence tip.
He claimed that when the army received reports of robbers entering Taraba from Plateau State on roughly 30 motorcycles, they acted quickly.
In the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba, the criminal gang had started a cattle rustling operation at a Fulani hamlet close to Jebjeb Village.

Troops from 6 Brigade mobilized and projected forces toward Komodoro hamlet in Karim Lamido LGA, working with their colleagues from Operation SAFE HAVEN, which was stationed in the Kampani area of Wase LGA, Plateau State. After fleeing across the river into Plateau State’s Daji Madam Forest, the bandits were fighting back with a furious gunfight when they were caught, he added.
Two bandits were killed during the gunfight, according to Captain Oni, and roughly 1,000 rustled cows were found.
The animals were promptly removed to the Jebjeb community in Karim Lamido LGA and placed in a safe location. He mentioned that plans are in place for accurate identification and confirmation in order to give the animals back to their original owners.
Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the quick reaction and collaboration of the soldiers involved, Captain Oni continued, reaffirming the Brigade’s continued dedication to combating criminal activity in the area.
