Tunde Ogbeha Resigns from PDP, Says Party Has Become National Embarrassment

Former Kogi West senator Tunde Ogbeha has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ogbeha wrote to the chairman of the PDP Ward A in Lokoja LGA, claiming that the party has lost its focus and has devolved into a shell of its former self.
He wrote, “I am writing to formally inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the party with immediate effect.”
Ogbeha stated that despite the fact that many people left the PDP following the 2015 general election, he stayed with it.
He stated, “As you may remember, I have consistently stood firmly and steadfastly by the principles of the PDP over the years.”
“I promised to be the last man standing even after almost all party members left after our defeat in the 2015 presidential election.”
After the party lost power, the ex-senator claimed he sought to rebuild and reposition it.

Without seeming immodest, he stated, “I have worked steadfastly to rebuild, reconcile, and reposition the party — efforts which helped restore the PDP to national relevance and made it once again a party of choice for many Nigerians.”
“The party has been ridiculed by the public due to recent events that have left it a ghost of its former self, marked by growing divisions, an ongoing leadership crisis, and irreconcilable conflicts.
“I have decided to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of the collective effort to rescue our nation and preserve our hard-earned democracy after extensive consultations with my family, friends, and political associates.”
Ogbeha, 80, was a member of the senate from 1999 to 2007.
As the administrator of Akwa Ibom and the former Bendel state during General Ibrahim Babangida’s military control, he was a retired brigadier general.
