Two ‘Pastors’ Arrested in Rivers for Possession of Fetish Items

After allegedly being discovered in possession of occult objects in the Rumuduru hamlet in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, two self-described pastors were taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force’s Rivers State Command.
Their arrest was verified in a statement released Friday in Port Harcourt by SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command spokesman.
The Rumuduru locals gave the culprits over to the police, according to the police spokesperson.
The two were operating different churches in the town, according to her statement. On January 20, Rumuduru teenagers, under the leadership of their president, Henry Worlu, turned over the phony pastors to the police.
After conducting a raid, the young people took Bassey and Elijah into custody from their respective churches.
Bassey acknowledged during questioning that he had used spiritual remedies like oil and water to cure people with spiritual ailments.
Iringe-Koko added, “He also disclosed that he prayed for individuals with mental health concerns using a small coffin and a’miracle life oil,’ asserting that they would recover in three months.”

For the past 17 years, Bassey has lived and worked in the Rumuduru village, according to her.
A handgun cartridge, small wooden boxes, a sword, a fake Nigerian Navy identification card, and many photos were among the goods recovered from the accused.
The officials also seized a variety of crosses and spiritual objects, children’s shoes, and a police lanyard.
Iringe-Koko said that the suspects and the recovered materials are currently in police custody and that a comprehensive investigation is in progress.
