U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles Defeat Tunisia in Group B Opener

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria defeated Tunisia 1-0 in the first Group B match at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo to begin their 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.
Auwal Ibrahim, a midfielder for Akwa United, was the game’s hero after scoring the game-winning goal in the 37th minute. His outstanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award in addition to securing the Flying Eagles’ three points.
Nigeria, hoping to win a record-tying seventh Under-20 AFCON championship, remained calm and resilient during the difficult match against Tunisia’s Junior Carthage Eagles. Ibrahim’s goal proved to be the difference in a closely contested match, despite numerous offensive attempts from both teams.
