UCL: Carragher Hails Barcelona Star Yamal – ‘He’s an Absolute Superstar, Doesn’t Deserve to Lose’

Following Barcelona’s elimination from the UCL against Inter Milan, Jamie Carragher praises Lamine Yamal.
Following the team’s heartbreaking Champions League semi-final loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday night, Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has lavished praise on Barcelona’s teenage wonder, Lamine Yamal.
Carragher was full of praise for Yamal despite Barcelona’s 4-3 aggregate loss, praising the winger’s outstanding efforts in both legs of the match. After the game, Carragher called the young Spaniard “an absolute superstar” on CBS Sports and bemoaned the lack of similar skill in the championship game.
Played at Camp Nou, the second leg was an exciting match full of goals and drama. With goals from Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu, Inter Milan jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and took control of the match. Barcelona, though, made a strong resurgence. Raphinha gave the home team the lead after Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo tied the score, giving the Spanish powerhouses a chance for a historic victory.
However, Inter once again demonstrated their tenacity. By the end of normal time, Francesco Acerbi had leveled the score for the Italian team, making it 3-3. The game went into extra time with the final score still tied. Davide Frattesi scored the game-winning goal in the first half of the extra time, guaranteeing Inter Milan’s spot in the championship game.
The 16-year-old Lamine Yamal was the one who consistently attracted attention during the fierce and high-stakes competition. The young winger’s speed, vision, and self-assurance on the ball were impressive. In regular time, he almost won the game for Barcelona, and in extra time, he almost got them back into the game.

Carragher was unreserved in his praise of the teenager’s poise and influence during such a crucial game. “It was that good, both ties—and that man there, Yamal, doesn’t deserve to be on the losing side,” he stated. “Nobody does, but especially not him, considering how young he is.”
“He was outstanding in both legs and nearly won it for Barcelona late in normal time,” he continued. He almost brought them back again in extra time. The dude truly is a superstar. The only major letdown is that we won’t be able to watch him play when we’re in Munich for the championship game.”
Carragher’s remarks are in line with the increasing belief among football fans that Yamal is among the game’s best prospects. Even on the biggest stage in Europe, his maturity, technical skill, and fearlessness have made him stand out.
Even if Barcelona’s Champions League run is over, Yamal’s career is just getting started, and supporters everywhere will be keeping a careful eye on the talented young winger to see what the future holds.
