Wabara Criticizes Tinubu Over Claims of Revived Economy

In response to President Bola Tinubu’s assertions of recovering the Nigerian economy, Senator Adolphus Wabara, a former Senate President and Chairman of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), commented.
Wabara said in a statement that Tinubu’s claim was disrespectful to the millions of Nigerians who are suffering greatly.
Nigerians would be the first to vouch for the administration’s accomplishments, he contended, if Tinubu had actually restored the economy.
“The statements made by President Tinubu are not supported by the actual situation on the ground. Wabara stated that Nigerians would be the first to testify if he had actually improved the economy.
He cited the President’s statements as being contradicted by the rising rates of inflation, widespread hunger, and growing poverty.
Ironically, when the economy is obviously declining under his leadership, the president is discussing economic recovery. Indicators indicate otherwise.
Nigerians in poverty and hunger don’t require a speech on economic recovery. He continued, “Market prices will show the first indication of improvement.

Wabara asked the president to put more effort into substantive economic improvements than empty rhetoric over the final two years of his term.
He demanded that Tinubu examine important economic policies, especially those pertaining to double taxation, which he claimed were discouraging enterprises and degrading living standards.
The chairman of the PDP BoT also emphasized the urgent need to address the nation’s security situation, pointing out that farmer displacement from agrarian communities as a result of bandit and criminal herder attacks has greatly contributed to food shortages.
A once-thriving economy was mismanaged by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he claimed. Nigeria was one of the top two economies in Africa when the PDP was in office. He claimed that the APC had undone those advantages.
Wabara expressed hope that Nigeria’s economy would recover after the PDP takes back power in 2027, despite the present difficulties.
