Why Members of the 4th National Assembly Were Active, Vibrant – Senator Jibrin

Senate Deputy President Barau Jibrin has underlined the importance of providing elected officials with governance training.
Senator Jibrin was quoted as saying that the training of the members of the 4th National Assembly during the 1999 return to democratic administration was what made the MPs engaged and active.
On Wednesday, the Deputy Senate President made this statement while hosting Lanre Adebayo, the Director General of The Progressives Institute (TPI), and his management team in his office.
The Senate would assist TPI, which was founded by the present All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, in its mission of educating young Nigerians about democracy, he promised.
He said that the National Democratic Institute in America had asked the parliamentarians of the fourth republic to participate in training, claiming that the instruction would equip them to manage the country.
One of the people who saw the Institute’s unveiling was myself. And I’m among those who respect and support this institute and its principles. This is something I am doing completely for a number of reasons.
Of course, becoming a beneficiary of a comparable institute from a foreign country is one of the causes. Since attending a training program at that institution, I have been hoping that Nigeria will have a comparable organization.
Therefore, I was thrilled to learn that this institute was joining the All Progressives Congress through the national chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje.
“This is because I recall winning the election to serve in the Fourth Republic’s House of Representatives, representing my constituency, approximately 26 years ago.
“We received an invitation from the U.S. National Democratic Institute. The Democratic Party of the United States owns this comparable organization.

The institute chose to come here and provide us with a thorough education on how to enter this nation’s legislature. Given that there existed a gap at the time.
We didn’t have a legislature in this country for a long time. because our politics was then impacted by military action. As a result, practically all of the legislature was forgotten.
“The National Democratic Institute (NDI) arrived and gave us classroom instruction on how to behave and enter this nation’s legislature. We also learned a lot from the lessons we were given.
“The training we received helped us stand out from the other lawmakers in this country.” “The Fourth National Assembly’s lawmakers were extremely numerous in their legislative activities,” he stated.
Adebayo was urged by the All Progressives Congress (APC) politician to share the institute’s training with members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) parliament.
I am grateful for my position as the ECOWAS Parliament’s first deputy speaker. Furthermore, I would like to implore you to spread your tentacles outside of this nation.
“Try getting in touch with us. I am aware of the ideological differences between us. Two of the lawmakers in the ECOWAS Parliament are conservatives. You will prove to be really helpful. “Please spread your tentacles to the Parliament of ECOWAS,” he said.
According to Adebayo, the institute was founded to promote leadership and governance abilities in order to fortify the political community.
